THE MAP displayed on these disc sleeves is a reproduction, at roughly half-scale, of the map that Paul Bowles submitted to the Library of Congress in 1960, along with his field tapes. Like his writing, it is spare, precise, and carefully assembled. Bowles might have chosen to buy a road map and simply mark out his route, but instead he constructed his own out of lightweight paper, to show exactly what he wanted to show.
